Look what I found! Our friends Dmitriy and Shannon got married almost a whole year ago, and it took me this long to dig up some of the photos I took. One day I’ll be better at this… Unfortunately, I don’t have that many pictures from the event because 1) my camera is pretty old and really terrible at any indoor pictures, especially of people, and 2) I was a member of the bridal party, so I spent a lot of time running around sans camera. But I did manage to take a few shots, and here they are!
Shannon and Dmitriy got married in the most picturesque winter wonderland imaginable over at Lake Tahoe.
Strangely enough, it didn’t snow almost the entire time we were there. Shannon’s family arranged for the bridal party to stay in the most amazing cabin on the mountain, so we spent some time before the big day enjoying ourselves and taking advantage of the outdoor hot tub.
Right after the rehearsal dinner, it started snowing so hard that Shannon, me, and the rest of the bridesmaids weren’t able to make it back up the mountain in a taxi. The poor taxi driver apologetically dropped us off at a gondola that took us up to the Ritz Carlton, where we were going to spend the last night before the wedding. We definitely made the staff’s night by being the five ridiculously underdressed, screaming girls that burst out of a dark gondola in the middle of the night to make our way home through a foot of snow.
The next morning, we woke up to a picture-perfect winter view.
The morning was a rush of preparations. I was pretty impressed with how calm and collected Shannon was the entire time. While the rest of the bridesmaids and I hung out upstairs and took pictures of the bride’s amazing shoes, Shannon got prettied up in the Ritz’s salon. (Sorry for the sudden drop-off in picture quality, my camera really is terrible at indoor scenes…)
And then, the beautiful outdoor ceremony and the amazing reception! We had so much fun. The reception took place just inside the patio area you see in the picture below (which was later converted to an outdoor vodka sampling area), and the ceremony was just outside the lounge in the following picture.
Note: I don’t have any pictures from the actual event, but you can check some of them out at the photographer’s blog. While you’re at it, check out the stationary work I did for the couple! There were save-the-dates, invitations/day-of stationary, and bachelorette party invites.
Of course, we followed up the event with an afterparty in the ski village before flying home the next day.
The wintry wedding was a perfect tribute to Dmitriy’s Russian roots and Shannon’s Californian origins. Thank you again, guys, for inviting us to be a part of your beautiful wedding and hosting us so well!
