So… this post is about something that happened over six months ago. At the time, I posted about it very briefly, and never went back to edit the pictures and fully recap our 4th anniversary trip to The Homestead Spa and Resort in Bath County, VA. The next few posts will catch everyone up, I hope.
The Homestead is a beautiful Jefferson-era mansion in the Virginia mountains, and is apparently a playpen for skiiers in the winter. Joe surprised me by planning our anniversary weekend here, complete with horseback riding, late-night snowmobile-ing, hiking, general lounging around (we had cable!), and a trip to the nearby Jefferson Pools.
As you can see, the building itself is something to behold.
I dug the irreplaceable John Deere out front, reminding everyone exactly where we were.
In the next few posts, I’ll introduce you to The Homestead’s idea of country Americana luxury. This was my first time seeing anything like it, and needless to say, I was a bit overwhelmed. As a teaser, here are some awesome rocking chairs that greet visitors from the front porch, complete with outdoor carpeting and attendants every 10 feet.
You can practically hear the chairs saying, “Sit in us and relax, or else…”
