To date, by far the most downloaded item on The Lucubrators is the daily planner template. The last version that was uploaded was v1.2. It’s high time for another update! As of right now, the most current version is 6.4, and it’s available here for your productive pleasure.
This is a beloved planner template, with many components that have proven to be very helpful in daily time management. Some of them are self-explanatory, but for a more in-depth explanation, an instruction sheet a sample day’s inputs is included with the download below. In addition, some specific aspects of the planner template are highlighted here.
The planner is meant to cover four distinct components of daily productivity:
- Tracking (of time, benchmarks, valued occurrences, or other important data)
- Planning (identifying to-do items, breakdowns of larger tasks into smaller tasks, setting intents for the next day)
- Motivation (getting in touch with values and other important personal mindsets)
- Note-taking (space for freeform notes, doodles, stickers, etc.)
The 24-hour timeline on the left-hand side allows you to track and pre-plan sleep, appointments, work hours, and so on. The day of the week, month, an day are identified on the right-hand side. Stock symbols are provided on the right-hand side as well to allow you to assign your own meaning to such symbols and track all that is important to you.
Daily tasks are broken down into three distinct types:
- An ambitious larger goal for the day, as well as suggested tactics to help yourself do it.
- Smaller to-dos for the day.
- To-dos for the following day (much stress can be relieved by allowing yourself to pre-plan tomorrow).
Daily reflection prompts are included to help yourself get in touch with lessons learned, gratitude, affirmations, and personal needs.
End-of-day reflection questions are included to help you identify what you’d like to repeat each day, and specific desires you have for the near future, both of which makes it more likely that you’ll align yourself to such improved behavior in the future.
A note on assembly: the daily template can be printed on both sides of regular printer paper for 20-30 copies, folded in half, and then stapled down the middle. A cover sheet is included in the downloaded as well if it’s needed. Printing the cover on thicker stock paper is recommended to give the final printed planner a heavier, sturdier feel.
The worksheet is available for free, although a small contribution to help cover the time we spend designing and developing these materials would be very appreciated!
